Weekend Goals

Workout: Ran outside 7.25 miles (69 min) 9:36 pace

I’m almost impressed with my pace there considering I haven’t run over 3 miles at a time in 3 weeks and I’ve been eating low carb for 6 days. Although, it did include Garmin pauses for 4 water fountain breaks, one 2-minute walking break, and one break to move my car out of a no-parking zone.

I have a feeling there will be no PR for the Iron Girl Half Marathon next weekend. I’m pretty sure I had a pity party about this fact during the whole 7.25 miles. Please join my pity party in the comments. Winking smile

On a positive note, I accomplished several goals this weekend:

1. Did my taxes!

And then I ate ants on a log (for the first time ever) while doing my taxes. Please ignore my stubby Megan Fox thumb. They work just like regular thumbs, thank you.

2.  Used my Barnes and Noble Groupon before it expires next week. I bought Book 10 of the Sookie Stackhouse series…

…and Unwind by Neal Shusterman. (Thanks for the recommendation, Michelle!)

If I can stop reading blogs for more than 2 minutes, I just might read those.

3. I joined the rest of the world and saw Black Swan. FINALLY.

I really, really liked it. Natalie Portman SO deserved that Oscar. She was incredible.

I’ve heard and read everywhere that people thought it was a weird movie and I’m gonna have to say…I didn’t think it was weird at all. Especially compared to Darron Arnofsky’s other movies.

Maybe weird is the new normal for me.

4. I mowed the lawn!

And by “I,” I mean the hubs. And by “mowed,” I mean I sat on the couch and did nothing while he slaved in the yard. Big kiss for the hubs.

I know those are all kinda lame goals, but hey, I’m feeling pretty good about them.

On a last note, check out Angie at Kansas Runner in her cute new runner girl charm that she won for my first giveaway.

Thanks for sending in the pic, Angie. Hey, and try not to have the most amazing eyes in the world. You’re making the rest of us look like chumps.

What goal did you accomplish this weekend?

  1. I managed to not have a complete nervous breakdown over my thesis…yes!

More interestingly, I LOVED Black Swan. The sig other has not been able to understand my fascination..apparently he was watching a different version of the movie. I have not been able to get it out of my head. And I totally agree she was amazing in it!

  2. Okay, I almost spewed my drink on the keyboard when I read your thumb comment. You’re funny, and Megan’s are much stubbier.

I want to see Black Swan!

  4. The thumb comment made me laugh outloud!
My weekend goals?! umm…I took a nap! Does that count?

  5. Ronk

I watched “Black Swan” on a flight, on a tiny monitor in the seat in front of me. Sitting there in front of all those strangers, I was a little uncomfortable watching Natalie Portman writhe around on her bed half naked, but only because she was so thin.

  6. I still haven’t seen black swan! I am DYING too! Your “mowing the lawn” sounds pretty similar to the way I do things. I think marriage makes me more and more helpless every day. No PR sucks, but maybe you can make a different goal, like seeing a guy in a kilt and having it blow up, or passing at least 3 barefoot runners (don’t you think they are always really fast???).

  7. I still have not watched Black Swan. So does that make me the last one? I guess I hit some of my goals. I planned not to over eat. I tend to eat a lot when I am at home. It isn’t because I am hungry but, because it is there and I am not doing anything. I stayed busy so I didn’t over indulge…yeah for me.

  8. Thanks for the groupon reminder! And taxes. I haven’t done either yet….

Awesome weekend! As long as you have fun in your half, thats all that matters!

  9. Looks like you had a productive weekend.

I thought Black Swan was a bit dark and kind of weird, but I still loved it. I agree that Natalie Portman deserved the Oscar. She was so good.

  10. I mow our lawn the exact same way. Just tell your husband you’re outsourcing your labor 🙂

  11. Eating, running, trip to the bookstore, and Black Swan? Sounds like my kind of goals and a great weekend. Boo!!! to the taxes though unless you got a big refund:)

  12. Sounds like yall had a good weekend!! Yay for taxes being done!

  13. Wow you got so many tasks done!!!! I am STILL working on my taxes… boo!!! Thanks for compliment on my eyes, that made me giggle! 🙂 AND Thanks again for the awesome charm!!

  14. Hey girl.. yup your still funny.. I was worried it might have been a one time thing ..but this is the 2nd post i am reading and you are still FUNNY!

    I accomplished a LOT .
MOVING THE MAN as in MY man in to my house that is now OUR house. 🙂
    Done and done 🙂
Now to sit down and watch those boxes unpack themselves.

    • Haha, why thank you! Moving your man in is quite the accomplishment. I didn’t move in with my hunk of love until we were dating for 4 years. You don’t have to say it. I know. I move FAST.

  15. oh yeah wanted to know so…are those books good. The sookie stackhouse series? THey sound cute and like an easy read.
