Rah-rah-ooo-la-la Ro-ma-Ro-ma- ma!

I’m feeling pretty good about the next couple of months. I think a little break from running is going to be just what I need to be ready for it again.

I know this because as I sit here and type this post, I totally feel like busting out a 5-miler. I mean, I slept in instead of doing that 5-miler, but I still feel like it and that’s what counts.

I also know this because yesterday, I read about this race and wanted to do it:


I’m not sure how feasible this race is because it’s 5 days before my first full marathon. But with all the training I will be doing, maybe 13 miles will be a good taper run by then?

The Daytona Half Marathon starts with a lap around the Daytona Speedway, ya’ll! That is pretty cool if you ask me. Also, Daytona isn’t too far away from Orlando so that’s an added race bonus.

I have until October 1st when the price of the race goes up, so there’s plenty of time to decide. For all of you that have run full marathons before, is a 13 mile taper run 5 days before the race a good or bad idea?


I’m still sore from my workout on Wednsday. I went to Crossfit last night, and although the workout lasted 20 minutes, it kicked my butt. The workout looked like this:

Twelve .10 mile runs with squats, pushups, and sit ups in between. After the first .10 run, we did one squat, one push up, and one sit up. After the 2nd run, we did two squats, two push ups, and two sit ups, and so on until you reach 12.

Man, that sounds easy when you see it typed out. I assure you, it was not. Smile

I’m off to do a few chores before Lisa comes over this afternoon. We have floor tickets to see Lady Gaga tonight at Amway Center. I can’t wait to see that crazy woman! Oh, and I can’t wait to see Lady Gaga too. 😉

  6. When is your marathon? What training plan are you following? We have Chicago in October. I have to figure out our plan!

    • It’s Nov 4th – the Savannah Rock n Roll. Michelle and I signed up for MarathonFest with a running shop here, so I guess we’re doing whatever plan they have in store for us. I’m terrible with that stuff. They do 2 shorter runs during the week that is speed work and a long run on the weekends. That’s all I really know about it.

  8. i think it depends on how you run it (racing vs run). i mean this monday i have a marathon and on tuesday (?) i did a 13 miler. and i’m not worried.

    i am so jealous of you seeing gaga! have fun. i’m heading to my mom’s house to prep for my race. and i might be going out with a few friends from high school for some drinking…not THAT is probs a bad idea before a race hahah!

    I am doing nothing tonight as my poor pup had to go in for boy surgery and hasn’t quite figured out how to walk or move with the cone on his head. Poor thing!

  10. I see that i have persuaded you to run the Daytona Half. Even though it is 5 days before the Georgia half, like you i think it will be a good training run, I say you should just do it for fun like me!
