Three Things Thursday

I think my bad morning from yesterday is seeping into today. Do you ever get tired of everything in general? I do. A lot. Today I’m tired of eating healthy, gaining weight, not pooping enough, boredom at work, and only getting 6 hours of sleep every night. I’m sure at least a few of those are related to one another.

I work out all the time. I try to eat healthy. I try to eat enough fruits and veggies, and I take my vitamins. I clean the house every day and pay my bills on time and I don’t bite my nails or drink coffee. 

I have a lot of good habits that you hear about all the time. So, today’s three things are my bad habits. These are bad habits I kinda like and want to keep. Forever.

Ok, maybe not forever.

Hopefully not forever.

I eat Splenda and Truvia (and think Stevia sucks)

I love Splenda and use it mostly in my oatmeal. If I’m in the mood for ice cream but want to eat something healthier, I’ll make a protein smoothie. Sometimes I’ll add a packet of Truvia to it if I want something extra sweet. Plus, Truvia has a real sugar-like consistency that I dig. But I do not like it in my oatmeal. So, I have boxes of both at home. If I’m out of one, it’s considered an emergency.

I love Diet Coke.

I don’t really discriminate against diet drinks in general. I know they’re bad because they leach calcium from your bones. I know they’re bad because the artificial sugars are known to stimulate hunger and make you eat more. I know I should drink more water. But I don’t.

I’ve quit diet coke for 2 months before and it sucks. So, I pick my battles. I will skip eating that cupcake most days, but I will not skip a diet coke if I really want it. Sometimes I drink one can a day, sometimes I drink four. Everytime I love it.

I Eat Too Many Sweets

I love sweets. I love cupcakes, cookies, marshmallows, and peanut buttery stuff the most. Pretty much anything with frosting is fair game to my tonsils. I’ve put out Facebook APBs for Cadbury Eggs (thanks Jack and Teri!) so I can make my newly discovered addiction, Cadbury Egg and Peep s’mores (thanks Melissa! I think…).

Is this normal? Probably not. When I eat low carb, I crave less sweets, so I try to eat low carb (not no carb) most of the time. I do try to limit my sweets as much as possible, but it’s hard and it sucks.

I’m thinking my bad habits might seep into Friday too.

    Awe. I had such an insanely irritating night last night…stuff kept happening…and then I irritated myself how irritatedly mad I was, and irritated Pete. LOL. It was great. I feel better this morning…’s been a slow start.

    As, for your addictions (err bad, keeping almost forever bad habits)..I already knew them. I like sweets, but not to your degree. I have sometimes where I have to have something, but most of the time I can resist. I prefer food over my desserts. And I love carbs…so…ya…

    I have all those same bad habits, and I don’t see changing any time soon. Is it wrong that I eat lunch dessert and dinner dessert everyday? If it is, I don’t want to be right. I’ve way cut back on my coke zero habit, but it’s still around. And always will be.

  3. My bad habit food wise is pizza and ice cream. I could live on those if it wouldn’t make me 800lbs :0

    I have the worst habit with sweets. It’s like once I start, the floodgates open and I can’t control myself. I am not proud to admit that I can easily put down 3 gigantic slices of sugary, frosting-coated birthday cake without slipping into a sugar coma at all. I will eat one bowl of ice cream, and then follow it up with 2 more. A dozen freshly baked chocolate chip cookies? I will eat them until they are gone. I tend to just not buy these things (or make them) because I know I have no self control. I am pathetic.

    • That doesn’t make you pathetic. That makes you my new best friend. I can totally do that. When people tell me they get “sugared out,” I look confused, because that’s never happened to me.

    Sprite. I have cut out soda before, and I managed to cut out all caffeine for a second time, but there’s just something about Sprite that makes it difficult to quit. It’s funny because it doesn’t give you a headache to quit like caffeine did and it doesn’t make you feel too bad to quit; I just can’t seem to do it.

    I love Coke! I can’t quit it. Actually, I can but I won’t. Sometimes, I’ll have one coke a day but then sometimes I’ll have 3. I incorpate an extra mile into my running for my “Coke mile” so I won’t feel too guilty about drinking 140 calories in 3 minutes.

    As much as I eat healthy and whole foods, I do have an insaneeeeeeee sweet tooth.

  8. I have a diet coke problem too. I especially love it from McDonalds or 7/11. No idea why, but it just tastes better! I often leave on my lunch hour just to get a large diet from Micky D’s (only a $1!).

    Also, I’m right there with you when it comes to just getting tired of things. I felt like that a few weeks ago. Luckily, it seemed to pass. I hope today turns around for you! Otherwise, treat yourslef to one of those peep Cadbury smores (which BTW, sound heavenly!!!)

    I have a sweet tooth also. I HAVE to have at least one carb-loaded, sweet dessert-type item to eat every day, and most days I have more than one. My motto has always been “everything in moderation,” and I try to live by that. For instance, I love coffee, but I don’t drink it all day long like a lot of people. I have 1-2 cups (coffee mug size cup, that is) every day, but I very seldom drink soda-pop. (note my use of both terms there. lol)

    I also make sure I eat the healthy foods every day, like fruits and veggies. Then I can “reward” myself with a yummy, surgary dessert! It works for me! 😀

    I notice that I gain weight most when I consume more than 2 alcoholic drinks a day, like on some weekends. It’s amazing how many calories alcohol (and whatever accompanies it) has! 😦 I guess that would be my “bad habit.” lol

  11. My worst bad habit is wanting something sweet to eat after every meal. Well almost every meal. If I have a sweet cereal, like Captain Crunch, Golden Grahams, Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles, or Cookie Crisp for breakfast, then I’m good. Although I still have to have my OJ afterwards, so maybe that counts as the sweet? Maybe not. Maybe now that I think about it, my worst bad habit is my late night grazing. Or maybe my bad habit is my rambling on and on, on the Internet…..

    • Yes! I had a cookie after breakfast today. Had dessert after lunch. Sometimes, I have dessert after snacks. And by sometimes I mean most of the time. I need to stop the late night snacking too, but I usually work out so late that I’m starving by 9 or 10.

  12. I was in a foul mood last night too. Big tears included. My husband must have loved it!

    My bad habit is Diet Coke. I drink two a day and wish I could stop. But I love it. I mean LOVE it. Is there rehab for Diet Coke?

    Great post! I too love Splenda, I have it every day in my coffee, I drink 2 cans of diet lime coke a day, and have no intentions of stopping…EVER, and life without sweets….what the heck is that??? Marshmallow fluff is good on anything! 🙂 I run 6 days, just so I can eat my sweets and pizza 🙂

  14. I’m a total splenda whore… coffee, tea, oatmeal, I don’t want to live with out it and I get royally upset if a restaurant doesn’t have it.
