National Running Day

Today is National Running Day. If you’re thinking of signing up for any races, you can save $10 on all the races listed below. The coupon code is good for today only.

Or you can save even more on one of the Rock ‘n Roll races. I might even celebrate and sign up for the St. Pete Rock ‘n Roll half marathon.

If you don’t want to celebrate National Running Day, he’s a few others for you.

I’m not sure who comes up with this stuff, but I do know that I’ll be celebrating June 14 every year now.

Yesterday, I kicked some serious workout booty.

  • Morning: Ran 4.25 miles (intervals for the last 2 miles), and walked 1 mile
  • Evening: Martial arts fitness class (45 minutes) and then a 1 mile run afterwards. Lots of squats and lunges in the class last night. Ouch!

Tonight is weight training with the personal trainer, but now I feel like I should go run to celebrate. 🙂

On a side note, if you haven’t already read this post by Caitlin, please do. If you are in a position where you are able to donate a few dollars to help someone in need, please do that too.

Are you celebrating National Running Day?

If you could make up any bizzare holiday, what would it be? (I would create “National Jensen Ackles Feeds Me a Cupcake While Rubbing My Feet Day.”)

  1. I would be down with celebrating that holiday with you. I’m not a big fan of people touching my feet (or eating cupcakes, really), but I WOULD let Jensen Ackles rub ’em.

I need to sign up for both St. Pete and Sarasota. Hmmm…

    • Yes! You DO need to sign up for SRQ! You probably have awhile unti the price goes up. And you might get a coupon at one of our other races if you wanted to hold out a bit. 🙂

  2. I read that it is also National Frozen Yogurt Day today. So I will most definitely have to find a way to celebrate that, along with some mile repeats (blech) to finish up my half marathon training. Will run for fro yo. Done and done.

  3. Teacher’s Day… awesome! And did you sign up for any races then?

  4. ummm, can’t wait til the 14th and 28th!?

what a lovely holiday! plus this is the first day it hasn’t rained here in Nebraska for the past week and a half… so what a good start to a good week – nice run and nice weather!

  6. I know! It is running day and my schedule has me at cross training and yoga. Hmm maybe I will get out there and do a little run.

This world has a day for everything, it is pretty funny. Maybe now that it is summer I would do National Smoothie day. It prbly already exists. Ha!

    Nice workout!

  7. I’m so happy sarah soon to be just tweeted your post so I could find your blog and get in on the USRS discounts! Miami here I come!

I probably won’t be running today to celebrate. I didn’t get up early enough before work, and now it’s a blast furnace outside. I will, however, be celebrating Chocolate Eclair Day on June 22. And (if I’m honest) International Panic Day on June 18.

I do this in my personal life all the time, by the way. I like to say that I enjoy making things official through the use of capatilization. Such as: Hair Appointment Day (one of my faves), Long Run Day, Pizza Night, etc.

  9. I’m celebrating NRD with a two mile run this evening…and I would totally be down for official Chocolate and Carbs Day!

  10. This post depresses me that I am tapering and not celebrating national running day and that I am under self imposed ban on signing up for races. Also wish my mom had gone into labor 12 days earlier so my birthday would be on chocolate ice cream day. Oh well, I’ll just celebrate anyway. You kicked ass on your workouts!

  11. Just found out that my birthday is on National Spongecake Day… if that includes dipping it in chocolate fondue then I am ALLLL over that! Thanks for the race coupon codes. I think it is time to drain the bank account! 🙂

  12. Don’t tease about running – jealous and wish I was doing it today, but I”m still injuured. Can I trade in a run today for one of those days that I was too lazy & skipped? What was I thinking?! 🙂

I’m thinking Pop Goes the Weasel Day needs some work.

  13. I’ve hit a running slump! Maybe signing up for one is just what I need. Thanks for the heads up.

  14. Yeah, Jensen Ackles rubbing my feet while feeding me a cupcake day sounds perfect! Sign me up!

  15. I LOVE THE NEW HEADER!!!!!!!!!! I’m Bunnypants’ number one fan. Oh, I’m your number one fan too, don’t feel bad 🙂
