Three Things Thursday

I usually like talking about my workouts as I do them. I’m not a big fan of “workout dump” blog posts, but I haven’t been talking about mine this week and I really want to, so you’re gonna get one. 🙂

I’ll try, I’ll try. So hard to keep her happy.

Monday:  Chest and ab workout with Linda. We did torturous things like push-ups on an ab ball and more push-ups with a pike. My chest is still sore today.

Tuesday Morning:  Tempo run before work. I was scheduled to do a speed run, but I wasn’t sure my shin was feeling well enough after the 18 miles on Saturday to go all out. I’m glad I switched it up because my tempo run was awesome. So awesome that I added a mile to it.

Oh, and you know what else happened on that run?

Tuesday Night:  Martial arts cardio class. I can’t even tell you what we did in class, but my hamstrings are still extremely sore today. And the instructor, Sheila, has no sympathy.

Wednesday:  Another workout with Linda. This one had 4 half-mile runs with sets of squats holding a 40lb bag (holy not easy) and bicycles and sets of pull-ups and good mornings in between.

During the first 30 seconds of our first run, hubs rolled his ankle and was down for the count. Now he has a golf ball sized bump on his ankle and he can barely walk, so he’s using a broken broom stick as a cane until a friend brings in a crutch for him to borrow. 😦

Tonight is my speed workout on the treadmill. I’m hoping it goes as well as Tuesday. 🙂

Before I get to today’s three things, check out more of the free wardrobe I inherited from my newly skinny best friend.

What can I say? The girl likes patterns. You know, friends getting skinnier is the best.  You get new clothes at no cost. Well, except the cost of your best friend looking hotter than you.

Today’s three things are my recent food discoveries:

 Jumbo Marshmallows

I’ve always been looking for a marshmallow that takes 6 bites to eat. Now I’ve found it! I don’t know where the need for this ever arose, but I’m glad it did.

Frosted Animal Crackers

By the way, Frosted Animal Crackers are not the same as Iced Animal Crackers.

For a long time, I thought frosted and iced animal crackers were the same thing. I never understood why one had higher calories and fat, so I just picked the lower one. Well, they are not the same my friends.

They are SO good. Just when I’m getting over my Sunflower Seed Butter addiction, these frosted beauties reared their ugly head. Perfect timing too, because I was looking to gain some more weight. Ugh.

After you’ve gained 10lbs from eating too many gigantic marshmallows and frosted animal crackers, you might need some of this instead of actual dessert.

I’m pretty sure I bitched in a blog post recently that there is no way a gum can substitute for a dessert when you want something sweet. Well, I might have to take that back. MY LORD this gum tastes just like apple pie. My only problem is that I want to chew it while eating an actual slice of apple pie. You know, for comparison purposes.

  2. You are too funny. 🙂 I love FROSTED animal cookies lol Those iced ones are just a little sad looking. And I try not to chew gum because it upsets the tummy, but that gum does taste like apple’s crazzyy! I would much rather have a slice of apple pie though..obviously to compare. 😉

  3. Have you tried the strawberry shortcake flavored Extra gum?! It is SO good! I’ve also tried the mint chocolate chip ice cream but it kind of freaked me out because it was a litttleeeee too much like a dessert (yes, it’s possible)

    Also, push ups on fitness balls= DEATH. I just did some today and know I will be feeling it very soon!

  4. I feel that way about yogurt. Strawberry shortcake yogurt for dessert? No, that’s not going to cut it. But as a yogurt I suppose I can accept it.

    Congrats on the no walking! I feel like a proud mama. You’re all rockstar-y with your runs lately. Could you send some motivation my way? I’m still doing it, but it’s SLOW going.

  5. WARNING: Giant marshmallows will ruin your campfire smoors. When you assemble your smoor and bite into it, the oversize marshmallow will squish out the back and land on you feet below. I too fell victim to the allure of giant marshmallows.

  6. I was wondering about that dessert gum. They have a commercial for a mint chocolate chip ice cream once, and it looked grossssss.

    BTW, Only eat things that have been broken into pieces; that way, all the calories fall out.

  9. First the fried Twix, then the frozen Peeps pops, and now frosted animal crackers?! Consider your sweet snack posts to my song lyrics as even. 😛

    I miss the giant marshmallows. My dad and I used to eat those when we lived up north and would go camping in PA.

    Something semi-new are the chocolate covered cannolis that a local pizza place serves. Good stuff!!

  11. I have the same exact black and white polka dot shirt but now I’m realizing I’m missing a cute white belt. I say we plan a day to wear them together. It will be just like that 90210 when Kelly and Brenda had the same prom dress — it’s even the same color scheme!

    • It’s a dress! But we should definitely wear them to the next blogger meet-up and pretend everyone else didn’t get the “theme.” 🙂

      • That’s a dress? Now I’m really jealous! Looks EXACTLY like my shirt, down to the front ruffle.

        Totally down w/ dress codes. In fact, I think we should initiate blogger meetup uniforms. It’s too much pressure to look cute for a famous fashion blogger!

  14. ok so YOU’RE the blogger who got me hooked on sunflower seed butter. I saw it at Trader Joe’s and was like “oh this was recommended by a blogger, I’m gonna try it” and you are right, it is WAY better than almond butter. I don’t think anything will ever beat peanut butter. I want to try that other thing: Better N Peanut Butter…but I haven’t seen it yet.

  15. I might be in the minority here, but I much prefer the iced animal crackers to the frosted ones. However, they might be lower in fat/calories, but eating an entire bag of them is still not healthy 😛 And I could eat an entire bag in one sitting!!

    Yay for free clothes! That’s the best.

    I discovered those frosted animal crackers back in my college days (aka, a very, very loooooong time ago). I was SO addicted to them back then. I bought them recently and didn’t find them quite as addicitve… maybe because I’ve become addicted to other things… like whipped cream vodka drinks. HA! 😀

    I can’t have those cookies in my house. I will eat the whole bag in one day. It’s crack. I have wondered about that dessert gum. Most of the flavors just don’t seem like they would be that great. Apple pie could be a winner though.
