2.75 Miles Short of a Long Run

Tonight was my tempo run, but for some reason I went to the gym thinking that if I felt good enough, I could just do my long run. Then I wouldn’t have the thought of getting it done weighing on my mind all weekend. Since my running group doesn’t meet this weekend, it’s inevitable that I will be worrying about when I can get it done until it is actually done. I guess I’m just a worrier.

(If just one of you gets that, then I’m a happy girl.)

Once I got on the treadmill, I was feeling pretty good. It’s amazing what a Vampire Diaries rerun, air conditioning, and eating 3 cookies, and Ice Dream, and a cauldron of Haribo Raspberries can do for a run. Here’s what it looked like:

Mile Pace Incline
0.30 Walking warm up .5
1 10:00 .5
2 10:00/9:49 split .5
3 9:49 .5
Pooping Moderate 0
4 9:49 .5
5 9:41 .5
6 9:31 .5
7 9:23/9:14 split .5

Total miles: 7.25

If it wasn’t for my “break” after mile 3, I would have finished those last couple miles and known why Elena didn’t turn into a vampire after all.

But it was getting so late and I didn’t want to be at the gym until 10:30. So, I guess I’ll have to try again this weekend which I was hoping to avoid.

By the way, I’m extending my streak of terrible movies. Hubs was actually willing to finish Rango when I reminded him of all your blog comments. So we put in another movie that was borrowed from a friend.

After 45 minutes of this movie, we turned it off and wished we had finished Rango. I also wish I had 4 hands so I could give it more thumbs down.

  1. Sorry about the movie disappointments! Good luck with your run this weekend!!

  2. Pam

I got the Will Ferrell/Harry Carey reference! But I’ve never heard of that movie. Looks so odd. Good run, girl!

  3. If the moon were made of spare ribs, would you eat? I know I would, and I’d polish it off with a tall, cool Budweiser.

Sorry about Grandma’s Boy. That movie is terrible.

Nice job on the run! Moderately paced pooping is always important to aid in recovery.

  4. I am being ambitious and thinking of knocking out my 15-mile run after work today if we get let out early. 3 day weekend with no long run or early morning wake-up call? YES PLEASE! But we’ll see. There’s a chance I may not follow through on this plan…

Good luck with your run this weekend! It’s “only” 10 miles 😉

  5. Paula, no!!!!!! Grandma’s Boy is an amazing movie with hilarious one liners!! Please give it another shot! I promise it gets better 🙂

  6. I hate when I have decent-high hopes for a movie, and they are dragged down. I was hoping that the new Arthur was going to be great – not so much.

  7. I know, I know! I love the VD so very much despite that fact that it’s a show for teenagers. No shame here!

  8. OMG at pooping – moderate!
    BAHAHAHA!

This is why I love the treadmill… no need to search for a port-a-potty or a bush on a long run. You can just jump off and poop at a moderate pace without fear of someone watching you almost crap your pants.

  10. I never do a long run early. I like my full week of easier running before I tackle more than double the miles I run on a normal run day.

  11. I will worry the pants off you! I worry like nobody’s business. In fact, quit worrying and I will worry on your behalf. Yep, just take the weekend off.

I’m glad your pooping was moderate. I can never get the pace right for that.

  12. Never heard of that movie – and sounds like I’m not missing much. 😉

  13. Terri

Omg… I refused to watch Grandmas Boy for the first 2 years of my husbands and I relationship..then one night he talked me into it and it’s now one of my Favorites! How can you not die everytime JP comes on the screen and the pure stoner/nerdyness is amazing. You have got to give it another go.. or I might have to make my veiws do that middle finger thing again next week. LOL.

  14. Amazingly, the real Harry Caray was way funnier and more bizarre than even Will Ferrell could make him. The only person I’ve ever seen pulled off the air because he was getting too drunk. Amazing stuff.

  15. It’s probably one of the dumbest movies out there and it’s rare I am admitting this in public, but I love Grandma’s Boy. So many great quotes to requote. 🙂

  16. i’ve never even heard of that movie. but i think i live under a rock hahah. or i have good taste in movies? 😉

  17. I’m always impressed when people run that kind of mileage on a treadmill! Three miles is about my limit.*

  18. Oh my goodness… I think this is one of the first times our movie taste has differed! I think Grandma’s Boy is hilarious!! Maybe its the geek in me!

  19. If the moon was made out of barbequed spare ribs…would ya eat it then?!
