Holiday Parties Make Me Fat and Happy

Saturday evening, hubs and I attended our big bossman’s holiday party at his house. He holds it every year for close friends, those in management at work, and certain client-type friends. We went to the party last year too because hubs falls in the management category. And I fall in the plus one category.

Big bossman has one of those houses you just feel grateful to have walked into. It’s big. And it’s beautiful. I want to take pictures of everything so bad, but I don’t want to be that person, so instead I pretend like his house is totally normal and that I have one just like it.

The party always has catered hors d’oeuvres, amazing desserts, and an open bar that makes me never want to leave. The plates for the hors d’oeuvres are really small, but that doesn’t deter me.

This year there was a chocolate fountain. I wanted to put my face in it.

I can’t tell you how many marshmallows and Rice Krispie treats I defiled with that thing. Also, there were more desserts.

Mini crème brulee and key lime pie, chocolate dipped cheesecake pops, chocolate brownie and carrot cake shots, cookies, mini cupcakes, and pretzels, marshmallows, graham crackers, bananas, strawberries, and Rice Krispie treats for the chocolate fountain. It’s hard to see in the picture, but there was an actual light from heaven shining down on that table.

This year, they rented a photo booth for all the guests to take pictures in. We get a copy as a memento and the big bossman and his wife get a copy as well. That was FUN.

I didn’t take many pictures, but I did manage to get some good ones of our friends Monte and Heather. (Monte works with us.)

I looooved Heather’s dress. I need it. Make it happen, Heather.

We had a lot of fun. We stayed until they kicked us out the party ended. Afterwards, Monte and Heather picked up hubs at our house to take him to another one of our friend’s Christmas parties and I hightailed it to Jacksonville for the marathon.

Paula’s to-do list: Start taking pictures of the dresses I wear to holiday parties so all my friends can see them. 🙂

  2. Chocolate fountains should be a requirement at all parties. Looks like fun!

  3. Looks like an awesome party! And now I’m starving after looking at all that food…

  4. Loving those photo booth pictures. You guys look like the people that come in the picture frame (please tell me you know what I mean!). I am so totally the same way in houses like that, all “oh, this is okay I guess . . .” on the outside while secretly afraid to touch anything on the inside.

You two are ADORABLE in the photo booth pics! And that dessert table does look like it was sent down from heaven. *WANT*

  6. Just going to an amazing house like that sounds like fun. I’d be totally tempted to take pictures too.

  7. Where the eff have I been lately? Your dark hair is new to me, but I flipping heart it! Looks super cute on you.

Andplusalso, when/where did you run marathon #2? How did I miss the news on that? Good god, pregnancy brain is eating me alive.

Putting your face in the chocolate fountain will likely put you in the “minus one category” BUT …possibly worth the risk. 🙂

  9. Ohh sweet baby cheeses there are few things in life I love more than a good holiday party. But you know this 😉 The food alone MAKE IT!
I am in absolute awe of the kitchen in the background of the chocolate fountain, it looks pretty ridic.
Love your photo booth pics! Maybe your big boss will frame them and hang them in his study.

  10. I regret the lack of chocolate fountain at my wedding. Yeah, I probably would have destroyed my dress, but those things are awesome. I’m jealous, that holiday party looks and sounds amazing!

  11. How fun!! Umm depending on how much I drank that evening I am pretty sure I would have put my face into the chocolate fountain… and then proceeded to get kicked out most likely. But I am sure it would have been worth it 🙂
