All the Things

Alright, so there’s a lot of random things going on in my mind right now, so random it will be!

1. I ordered this pair of Mizuno Wave Creation 14’s.

I need another pair of shoes like I need a hole in the head, but these are going to make my big, boat feet look ridiculously cute.

Right now, I’m running in the Brooks Ghost 5 and I like them but they aren’t perfect. I mean, I can’t really think of what’s wrong with them either so I guess it’s just a feeling based on nothing.

I ran in the Wave Creation 11’s for two years and loved them but once they were discontinued, I was afraid to try the new model. So instead, I tried every other shoe under the sun, which now that I think about it, makes no sense.

2. My friend, Andrea, sent me this on Facebook because it “reminded her of me.”

That, my friends, is a fork that monitors your eating habbits.  This is from the Web site: “The HAPIfork alerts you with the help of indicator lights when you are eating too fast.”

Now, I don’t know why a portion control light-up fork would remind anyone of me, but I am fairly certain if I ever used it, my dinner would be a rave.

3. Another friend, who knows I’m eliminating artificial sugar from my diet, sent me this really helpful graphic.

4. Anyone making a New Year’s resolution to save money? A friend posted this on Facebook and I thought it was a great way to save over $1000 bucks this year.

5. My next husband announced he’s having a baby with his current wife. Rude.

6. I roasted my first beets the other day.

They were delicious, but I gotta say, I can’t handle the pink pee and purple poop. I mean, I’ve eaten lots of beets before and never had that problem. It was like a flamingo massacre in my bathroom. So of course when I saw it, I first thought, “crap, I’m dehydrated.” So I drank a ton of water, only to generate more pink pee. So then I thought I was dying. Isn’t pink pee the first sign of dying? Probably. Anyway, turns out it was the beets and I’m going to live.

Also, that “condition” is called Beeturia. (<—- Now you can say you learned something from this blog other than my poop schedule.)

7. What’s James McAvoy doing these days?

I feel like he was in every movie for awhile and now he’s nowhere. I miss him.

Alright, time to work. Tonight, I pack my stuff for Austin and then I’m off to see this girl. So excited! Hope you all have a great weekend. 🙂

  1. Those are really cute shoes! I’m going check out the HAPIfork…I need to know how it works…like just curious. And, yes, my meals would be raves, too. LOL…and probably b/c I enjoy raves. I posted that 52 week money saving thing…b/c a friend of mine posted it. Heh. The cycle of FB.

Hmm…why do roasted beets cause this phenomenon? Or is it more, that you eat a lot of them? Curious, as this has never happened, to me before….of course I haven’t roasted and then eaten beets, either. I do like beets….

    • Oh…the Hapifork is more about eating at the right pace…uh, I eat slow already…no rave going on there. How many fork servings you’ve had…haha. It does sound interesting…but not sure I’d be getting rave action out of it! LOL.

Nope, I wasn’t eating a lot of them. I might understand it then. It lasts a whole day too! (That link to Beeturia explains it.)

  2. Good luck with the shoes! Always better to stick with what worked for you before 😀

    fun idea to save money!

Those shoes are puuurty. I just got some sweet blue wave riders. They’re my first post injury shoes so I hope they treat me well. Have fun in Austin! I want to go back there so badly!

  4. Is she that chick from One Tree Hill? For some reason, she doesn’t strike me as the pregnant type. I’m not sure how I’d know that since she is obviously not the same as the person she plays on a TV show that is no longer filming new episodes. I’m just surprised.*

  5. Those shoes are sexy! I want a cute pair of running shoes, but always end up in orthopedic looking kicks. Ugh. The things I do for comfort.

  6. You know I’ve struggled with shoes too. I just found the Wave Creation 13 and man do I love it! I can’t wait to hear what you think of the 14.
Have a fun trip to Austin and good luck this weekend!

I have been to 2 running stores where they tried to talk me out of the Creations. I don’t get it! I love the look of the Wave Riders but they are just too narrow for my feet. We are like Wave Creation/Kinvara twins. 🙂

  7. I’m glad beets just color your pee/poop because if it were a similar situation to asparagus pee, I couldn’t eat them anymore and I would be sad.

Nah, you don’t need the shoes, but you deserve them.

Oh, and I would love to see my fam with a table full of those forks. We are champion speed eaters. It would be like the Griswold Christmas.

  8. Jen

Love those shoes! I have a wide foot and I feel like the fun colors never come in wide widths. 😦

  9. I have been meaning to ask you about the beets. Thank you for mentioning that about your pink problems though, very informative…but how was roasting them? Was it a long and involved/complicated process? I feel like it would be a lot of work for some reason…

My meals would also be a rave if I had that fork…I eat SO fast. Also, if it just lights up it probably wouldn’t do anything for me. I would need an electric shock or something.

    • Paula

It was super easy! I just scrubbed them, put some coconut oil and salt/pepper on them, and wrapped them individually in tin foil. Then threw them in the oven at 400 for an hour. Just wear gloves unless you want your hands to look like your pee eventually will.

  10. I feel like the fork would make me angry and defensive. I judge myself plenty. I don’t need a fork adding to the jabs. I’d need to add hot sauce to everything to slow down my eating!

    • Paula

How do we explain to the fork when it lights up that we’re not eating fast…just stabbing the person next to us in anger?

  11. Amber K

Okay, I had to crack up about the pink pee. I remember when I first added a B complex supplement to my diet and was severely disturbed by the neon yellow pee that resulted. So weird.

And I saw that Diet Coke graphic on Facebook and I had to share it. My caffeine-free diet coke obsession is a tough one to beat, ugh.

  12. The 52 Week Money Challenge is awesome!! I am definitely going to try this and transferred Days 1-9 already into savings. Very awesome TDOTM!

  13. I just laughed loudly at the beet pee thing and woke the baby. Well done 🙂

  14. I love that money challenge! So cool!

Just found your blog and I love it. I was cracking up during this post!
