Five for Friday

1. Remember: Google Reader is buh-bye after Sunday. If you’d like to still follow my blog, there’s a bunch of different ways to do it that you probably already know about. But just in case, here’s how you can follow me:

  • Bloglovin’
  • Feedly
  • The Old Reader  < — just like Google Reader (thanks to Ananda for pointing this one out)
  • Facebook
  • Email < — Check my right-hand side bar for the form.
  • Walking behind me quietly

There are more ways, but you get the idea.

2.  I’m finally doing something other than watching movies! I feel like a real grown up. Tuesday night, Hubs and I went to see Daniel Tosh and I even snuck in a picture.

Daniel and I graduated from the same university so that basically makes us besties. He was extremely funny. His delivery is just like on Tosh.O except it has more F-bombs and is way more offensive. I’m sure I’m going to hell for laughing at some of those jokes.

3. Ok, so I’m still watching TV and movies. Like that’s gonna stop. I made it to season 3 of Deadwood and I’m still loving it.

I’m gonna be sad when it’s over.

I’m thinking of starting House of Cards or The Tudors next. I hear HoC is great from everyone but I never hear much about The Tudors. Anyone like that one?

4. I’ve been quiet on the Crossfit front, but mostly because my trainer has been giving us super hard and super boring workouts that I don’t think are worth sharing (like, 150 wall balls and 150 slam balls for time. *snore*) On Wednesday, he gave me a really light workout in comparison to what he normally gives me and I didn’t want to kill myself afterwards. So please enjoy this workout that will not make you want to kill yourself.

I hadn’t been to Crossfit in almost two weeks, so I actually felt this in my quads and abs the next day. Crazy how much fitness you can lose in such little time.

5. I’m headed to Tampa tonight to see Ke$ha. Again. I love her so much. I love her enough to go to a show in which she is headlining with Pitbull. I can’t think of anyone I would rather never hear from again than Pitbull, so it’s obviously true love. And if you don’t like her, I don’t want to hear about it. Only declarations of love allowed. I’ve been looking forward to this all month. It’s gonna be so much fun! Once I get there of course.

  1. I started watching the Tudors, but it didn’t hold my attention. I was too distracted by the constant sex to tell if anything significant was happening in the plot. I’m totally not a prude, but it was too much for me.

You should watch Scandal. I love that show. Michelle loves it now, too.

  2. Jim

The Tudors is more or less Friday night Skinemax level entertainment. So basically, it will be you and a bunch of 14 year old boys fighting over that bandwidth. House of Cards is good, worth it for Kevin Spacey alone.
And I am being a good boy and following your command in bullet 5 and not saying anything negative about your girl. If there’s one thing we can all agree on though, it’s that Pitbull is beyond awful. Here’s hoping he closes the show so you can leave before being subjected to him barking or whatever it is that he does.

  3. I watched The Tudors a while ago – it was OK, but yes LOTS of sex (not surprising). I’ve heard good things about House of Cards too – that will probably be the next show we watch, although we still have a bunch of shows on our DVR that we need to get through.

    Have fun at Ke$ha!

  4. The Tudors — Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Naked. A lot. Sam Neill, NOT naked. Peter O’Toole as the Pope (also not naked). Beheadings, history (relatively accurate), beautiful scenery…I liked it.

    • Paula

I do appreciate a clothed Sam Neill. And a naked Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Glad you liked it. I think hubs is actually on board with watching this one too so it might be next. (I have a hard time getting him to watch new shows.)

  5. OK.. I’ll be right behind you then if its an option 🙂

My husband loves deadwood… I got him all the seasons for Christmas – he zoomed through them 🙂

I love a good .gif picture… but that one of Woody – awesome!

    • Paula

That’s what we’re doing! We just started watching about 2 weeks ago and we’re almost done. I don’t even know what they’re saying half of the time and I still like it so that’s a good sign.

Tudors was good at first, really good, but started to kinda drag after awhile. I didn’t have a problem with the amount of bodice ripping in that show at all. In fact, I appreciated whoever decided to ignore how Henry the 8th really aged (including his grotesque, truly disgusting case of gout and weightgain) and replaced it with Jonathan Rhys Meyers in his prime. I’d recommend watching it, but don’t be surprised if you end up dropping off.

Scandal is *AWESOME*. Netflix only has like, the first 7 episodes though so I watched that, got addicted, and realized I was too far behind to catch-up to what’s playing real-time so I dropped off of that one too.

Did you ever get into Fringe? It was so much win.

    • Paula

Man, so much love for Scandal. I did notice there were only 7 episodes on Netflix so I’m going to have to do some detective work to find the other seasons. Maybe Amazon Prime?
I never got into Fringe but I know people that lurve it. I just never liked that main girl and I have to love the main characters to love a show, if that makes sense.

The Tudors is fantastic! I have a major lusty crush on Jonathan Rhys Meyers so I might be biased. But the plot is good and although the first season starts off a little slow, it is worth watching. Ended up with a crush on Natalie Dormer too. She is the one who is betrothed to Joffrey on Game of Thrones. Each episode has lots of sexual tension and some good sex scenes. I don’t like the last episode but the rest of the series is wonderful!

I wasnt too jazzed for the tudors which really really surprised me bc any type of historical anything is my thing. I thought henry cavill was a babe and that was it. I stuck through a season bc i really felt like i should like it haha. im a weirdo i know. sadly, in the end even the wonders of henry couldnt sustain me.

  9. Yeahhh KE$HA!!!! Have all the fun!

  10. Megan

OldReader!!! Paula, you have totally just made my day.

  11. Amber K

Gotta love Ke$ha! I went to a Daniel Tosh show once, but was pretty disappointed. He seemed…off. Like he just wasn’t into it that night. But his opening act was absolutely hilarious.

  12. Hehe enjoy the concert 🙂

I follow most of my blogs via email as I find it easier to see each post in my inbox as it comes in.

  13. Got you on Facebook and Bloglovin’ so I’ll still be following you!

  14. Glad to see some love for the Tudors because I really liked it. I knew it wasn’t very good but I still really liked it. It definitely went downhill after the first couple seasons, mostly because Henry justs get more and more ridiculous. But as a BIG bonus to naked JRM is naked Henry Cavill. Grrr.

I’m starting to feel like I have to get on the Scandal bandwagon soon, too. One of these days.

yeah the whole reader thing is throwing me for a loop. But I’m taking it as the final push I need to get off bloger and go to wordpress. Yes, I”m teh last person on the planet to do that. What do you think of Digg? I’m stuck between digg and old reader right now.

    • Paula

I haven’t even heard of Digg! So many readers I didn’t know about. I’m gonna check it out now though.
