You Will Be Mine

Yesterday, I met my friend Ursula’s dog, Moe. Then for the remainder of the night, I contemplated how important our friendship was because I.want.to.steal.that.freaking.dog. He is so cute. And I’m pretty sure Bunnypants will agree that he needs to be part of the family. She can talk about how she has one ear and a penchant for parsley.

And Moe can talk about how he has one eye and no depth perception.

I just think it’s rude that anyone would show me this dog when I can’t have him. (And I’ll spare you the details of how he lost that eye.)

We posed for pictures all night long. We talked about the future. This dog and I are MFEO. I’m coming for you, Moe. We will be together. In the meantime, I have to return my running shoes again. And eat some lunch. And maybe catch up on some stuff on the DVR. But after all that, I’ll definitely steal Moe.

As always, I have a bunch of things to talk about that I never mentioned this weekend:

1.  I bought a new fish tank for Max. It’s big and unecessary and it annoys me that I even spent money on a fish that I don’t really like in the first place. But the outside of the box is what sold me. This fish tank has the ability to bring its owner happiness and I want in on that action.

2.  I ran 12 miles with my group on Saturday morning. It was 55 degrees out and fabulous. My average pace was 10:50 which is slower than a few of my previous runs, but I felt really fast and that’s got to count for something. Next weekend I have an 8-10 miler and then it’s marathon time. Expect a freak out post at some point.

3.  Yesterday, I ran 4.25 miles at a 9:33 pace. I’m not supposed to be running extra miles since I’m in taper, but I had to burn some calories after Saturday night’s drink fest 2011. I’ll probably skip a run this week for cross-training so I don’t upset the taper gods.

4.  I went to a few Halloween stores yesterday. I found this Wilma Flintstone costume that was really cute. The store had regular and plus sizes, which I don’t think I’ve seen before. I felt like the photographer didn’t even try with the plus size girl. I mean, at least photoshop her a tan and give her a wig that fits.

5.  I think I found the reason why people have children: infant costumes. omgsocute!

6.  I also found this hat that I really wanted to buy but then wimped out because I’m cheap. Now I can’t stop thinking about it.

7.  And last but not least, guess what just became the most clicked picture on my blog?

Ya’ll are a bunch of pervs.  This week, I’ve had almost 200 searches for “American Horror Story maid.” I guess something eventually had to take the top spot away from “unicorn poop cupcakes.”

1.  Rachael  tweeted me some devastating news yesterday that the price of peanut butter is going up by 40% by the end of this month. WTF peanut butter? Like I don’t have enough of a problem trying to pay for my drinking habit. You can find me at the local grocery store hoarding this weekend. This also might be a good time to tell you that I got back together with someone special.

The picture looks overexposed, but that’s just the light shining down from Heaven whenever we get together. I won’t leave you again, Sunflower Seed butter.

So what’s the consistency of Sunflower Seed butter supposed to be? The first 2-3 jars I had were like a thick soup and it could almost (but not quite) drip off the knife. My current jar looks like this.

Which one is normal?

2. Thanks to this guy for tweeting me this awesome story about a guy who took a bus to the finish line of his marathon. He got caught, but Michelle and I are going to be much smarter. We’re already hashing out our plan to hide skateboards in the bushes in Savannah.

3.  Yesterday morning, I got up early to do my 4 tempo miles at the gym so I could go to Crossfit that night. As I was leaving, a gym employee was putting out bagels and cream cheese for the members. Planet Fitness has bagels every second Tuesday morning of the month, and pizza every last Thursday night of the month.  Awesome idea, a-holes.

4.  Tomorrow is Bring Your Pet to Work day. Ever since I was bitten by a dog, I have a mild hatred of all dogs I don’t know personally except wrinkly, pissed-off looking breeds like Pugs and French Bulldogs. And Basset Hounds. I like them too. Ok, maybe I only hate ugly dogs like the little f*cker that bit me. Either way, I will be avoiding them tomorrow.

Hubs wants to bring Pants to work so bad but I’m sure she would flip out. She was spooked by a snake she heard on TV the other day. Then, the other week it sounded like her whole playpen fell down so I ran out to see what was wrong. She was running away from something that spooked her and was slamming into the playpen at full speed face-first. The playpen is made for dogs and she was moving it across the floor she was slamming into it so hard. Poor thing. I felt so bad and tried to calm her down. This happened once before and I thought someone had been in the house because the cage was in a different position. Now I know she  just freaked out. So, we can’t take “the princess” out of her normal habitat.

5.  My 24 mile run is this weekend and then taper begins. Usually I dread the really long runs but now I’m looking forward to it after reading Cely’s inspiring first marathon recap. If you haven’t already read it and are looking for some inspiration, you should. I can honestly say that I’ve been worried about finishing Savannah in a time that I can be proud of and that recap put me in a whole new mindset.

On My Mind

Here’s some things on my mind. And I numbered them and junk.

1.  At work a few months ago, we were asked to estimate our time off for the coming months. I didn’t plan on taking any time, so I estimated 2 days in case something came up – sickness, appointments, a mental health day, Twilight sequels being released. The important stuff.

Yes you do.

RPattz, you are ridiculous.

I didn’t need those days off but scheduled them anyway and told my project manager I was available to work.  The only response I got was an approval of those days off, so I thought I was required to take them. All sorts of stuff goes into the budgeting of the contracts we work on, so it made sense to me that it was required. If we don’t take vacation, we charge to the project instead of our leave time, which can make the project go over budget. Got it. Monday, I took one of those days only to find out, it wasn’t required after all. Awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I love days off but I don’t like killing vacation time for no reason.

Ahhh. If I had only thought of that on Sunday I wouldn’t have been so bored on Monday.

2.  I added a bunch of shows to my DVR on Monday. Not like there was anything else to do.

Vampire Diaries was kicked off my DVR last year but it has been reapproved by the TV committee that lives in my mind. Everything else is on a trial basis. They must prove they are worthy of the 112 TV shows I watch. I’m not even sure how it’s possible for one person to watch this much TV. Besides the shows I mentioned in this post, I thought of at least 3 others I forgot to add to that list.

Did anyone see The Office season premiere? I do miss Steve Carrell but it’s still really funny. I love James Spader. He needs to be banned from the catering cart till he’s hot again.

Also, I am flipping-out excited about this show:

I’ve seen so many trailers for it and I still have no idea what it’s about. But I want to watch it so.bad. It looks so weird. And I like weird.

3.  There’s a month left in my marathon training which means I’ll probably start blowing off workouts any time now. Last night, I ignored what we were supposed to do for training and made up my own workout.

Mile Pace
.25 mile Walking warm up
.25 mile 10:00
40 seconds   (.10 mile) 6:40 pace (Sprint)
80 seconds Walk
Repeat x 20

Total: 2.25 miles running, 2.75 miles walking

4.  I watched Glee while doing sprints. It made me realize how much I hate that show. I know I’m the only one on the planet that hates it, but the songs and the characters grate on my last nerve. I thought a bunch of them were graduating and not coming back this season? Why are they still on the show? Where’s the kid with the wheelchair? Why does Rachel look like she’s in life-threatening pain when she sings?

5.  We are getting a cool front this weekend. THIS is what I wait for all year. Perfect Florida weather with low humidity. I can’t wait for my 67 degree long run on Saturday with no Camelbak. Yay!

Today is Not My Day

(last night’s) Workout: Martial arts fitness class (45 min) and then a 2 mile run outside

Hubs ran the 2 miles with me.  **pigs are flying**  To say he hates running is an understatement. But during the run, he suggested we do sprints. WTF?

After we got home, I pulled the dead weeds in the flower bed and cut the dead palm fronds off our baby palm tree in front of the house.

That flower bed is ready for some new plants this weekend and I’m oddly excited about it. That’s what happens when you’re 34. You get excited about plants.

By the way, it’s SO much easier to pull dead weeds than live ones. All you peeps that like to garden should have clued me in!

This morning was a total cluster. Since I woke up 2 hours early and couldn’t get back to sleep yesterday morning, it only makes sense that the alarm didn’t go off and I overslept this morning. I didn’t take a shower so I would have more time to take care of the bunny.

She’s so high-maintenance.

After bunny duty, I weighed myself and found that I gained another .6 lbs on top of the 1lb from the weekend.

Then, I broke a glass trying to find the right attachment for our hand-held Dyson.

After cleaning up shards of glass and getting ready for work, I packed my lunch. I looked in the fridge for the jelly for about 10 minutes. I swear I saw it in there but couldn’t find it. So, I texted the hubs to pick some up at the store since he was stopping for snacks before work anyway. When I got to work, I found that I had already packed the jelly in my lunch bag.

Major short term memory fail.

And finally, the pictures on my camera normally save onto my computer as “Picture,” “Picture 1,” “Picture 2,” and so on. Today, they are all saving as “Salad,” “Salad 1,” “Salad 2″…

If I get fired today and the IT department spreads rumors that I have 18 “salad” pictures on my computer, you know why.

Tonight, the hubs and I have a weights workout with our personal trainer. Maybe I can get in a run afterwards if he focuses on upper body. *fingers crossed*

Marathon training starts for me in 17 days (eek!), so next up will be a running gear post. 🙂

The Woe is Me Post

(last night’s) Workout: Crossfit (30 min) and a 2.5 mile run on the treadmill (10:00 pace)
(this morning’s) Workout:  2.5 mile run on the treadmill (10:00 pace)

Just typing “2.5 mile run” makes me sad because I’m always running half marathons. I feel like I’m not trying hard enough. But oh well, there you have it. Those are my runs. Everything else has been strength training (including an outside workout on Saturday similar to this one that still has my forearms and shoulders hurting today.)

You might already know I’m taking a break from running. I think the break is making me lazier because the urge to run still hasn’t returned like I thought it would.

  • Today is exactly one month since my last half marathon which also happens to be my last run of any distance over 3.3 miles.
  • Today is exactly 25 days until marathon training starts.
  • Today is the day I start worrying that my love for running isn’t coming back. I know…

While I was out picking up lunch today, I saw at least 4 people running outside. Who decides to run at noon in Florida? It doesn’t even make sense to me. The news repeatedly described the weather today as “dangerously hot,” so I think the best idea is to go running when the sun is directly overhead and temperatures are the highest.

If I see one of those runners pass out, I’ll make sure to stop my car and tell them how good my air conditioner feels and then I’ll place a water bottle juuuust out of their reach.  (Sheesh, I’m so snippy today!)

Speaking of lunch, I got my second favorite salad today – grilled turkey salad from Pita Pita. I asked for a “crap ton” of pickles. That is the exact terminology I used. Crap ton. I got 17 of them. (Oh, I counted alright.)

Next time I’m going to have to specify that crap ton > 17. Now I’m going to have to cut them in half and pretend I have 34.

I also had a shot of wheatgrass at lunch. I can’t wait to see what it will do to my internal organs.

What’s your favorite thing to load up on salads? (For me, pickles and beets…but not on the same salad. I found that out this weekend.)

I just complained about my running, other people’s running, and pickles. Now, you complain about something in the comments. Go ahead. Get it off your chest. (Just don’t complain about my blog because I’ll cry and then complain about it.)

Do I Look Like a Genie?

(last night’s) Workout: Ran outside 4.5 miles

I was a little too busy to blog my Monday Mini Miracles last night (there’s always next week), but I did get a run in with personal trainer #1 (Linda). We met at Lake Underhill Park, which has work out stations set up along the path around the lake.

We ran 3 laps and stopped at 5 of the different stations for each lap. If you look real hard, you can see them.

So, we did 3 sets of 25 log jumps, 25 step-ups, 15 pull-ups, 20 push-ups, and 15 dips during the run. Then we did an extra lap at the end because we like to torture ourselves like that.

Working out with Linda is fun. She’ll tell you she’s been too busy to work out for a month, that her lower back “hurts from NOT working out,” and that she has “lost a lot of strength.” Then she’ll bust out 10 man pull-ups right in front of you and wonder why you can’t do it too.

Incidentally, cats from the neighborhood gather and often stare at me while I’m doing pull-ups too.

Then Linda offered to help me with assisted pull-ups, but I will not have a 5 foot tall Vietnamese woman lifting up my 5’9″ ass up in public. Linda is STRONG and can do it no problem, but I’m sure that would shame my family in some way.

We had a great workout and I’ll get to see her again on Saturday. It will be one of the last times this month before school starts up again for her and she’ll be too busy to mold me into the Adonis she has been trying to make me for the past 3 years.

Here’s a bit of random news:

1.  When I got into work today, I was told by a friend that at first glance, she thought I was dressed like a genie.

I only dress like a genie on Thursdays, so this was upsetting. Maybe I should rethink the green-on-green action I have going right now.

2.  I tried a sip of Wheatgrass yesterday for the first time. That stuff tastes like licking a lawn.

3.  I’m on Day 8 of being back on Weight Watchers, and everything is going well so far. I keep finding new differences between the regular Points plan and the PointsPlus plan that are very interesting.

4. My goal to run less and do more strength training is going well too. I’m really loving all the strength training lately, but my run last night makes me feel like I might be starting from scratch when marathon training starts in one month.

ONE MONTH. Marathon training starts.

I’m kinda freaking out a little bit, but it looks normal since I’m dressed like a genie.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was packed with plans, as usual, but I didn’t take many pictures. So I thought I would just recap the whole weekend at once with the few random shots I did take.

First, before the weekend started, plus 10 wife points were received and banked. Who’s the best wife?!

I bought hubs this cute stuffed bunny and tied some treats to it with a ribbon. By treats, I mean Cracker Jacks and a Pure Protein bar. Gotta keep my man’s muscles in tact.

How to win wife points while still keeping your man thin and good looking:

Friday started off with a few errands. I had to return the pink purse I bought at Old Navy. I couldn’t open the purse because the drawstring on it was stuck and even unopened it was the size of a diaper bag.

I will start carrying huge purses when I actually need to put diapers in them. Not before.

Later that day, hubs and I went costume shopping for our friend Monte’s Star Wars themed birthday party on Saturday. I ran into this gem of a hat:

Why can’t they have chicken hats in Star Wars? It took all my will power not to spend $30 on that hat.

Friday night, the hubs and I met up with my BFF, Lisa, and our friend Tyler at a smokey but fun bar called Holly and Dollys.

Gratuitous BFF shot.

I didn’t get many pictures from the night, but I did get a good one of Lisa and Tyler.

Saturday, we hit up Crossfit in the morning for our Spartan workout and then ran around town looking for last minute items for the hubs to wear to the party that we couldn’t get the day before.

Before the party, we met up with our friend Klainie to chill for a few hours at her house. Klainie has a daughter who likes Barbie, and Ken was sitting out. So, I gave him a frito.

Then Klainie encouraged my weird behavior by bringing out a Barbie that looked like The Bieber and Bella from Twilight.

Beibs got a grape. Bella got a carrot stick with dip.

It took a little while to set these up. Totally normal behavior for a 34-year old.

While we were there, Klainie did the hub’s makeup for his costume. He was “Darth Party.”

I was a half-assed attempt at Princess Leia.

Not an awkward picture at all. And I know. You can’t tell which is my real hair and which isn’t. The color match is uncanny.

Everyone at the party was trying to guess what decorations were put up for the party and what was normal decoration because his house is FILLED with all sorts of Star Wars memorabilia including life-size cardboard cutouts, framed pictures, toys, figurines, magazines, and even his dining room cabinet has those old school McDonald’s Star Wars glasses displayed.

There was even a Jell-O shot in the shape of Darth Vader’s head.

If there’s anything Monte loves more than Star Wars, it’s Guinness. I pity the day when Monte has to make Sofie’s Choice between the two.

Today is all about work and chores, so I need to get on with those. Smile

Do you like dressing up in costume? (Love it! Halloween is the BEST.)

What’s your least favorite chore? (I’m going to say gardening since it’s the one I put off the most. But I have to scrub my shower walls today and I’m not looking forward to that either.)

The Proof is in the Pudding

Quick note for any of you on Blogger. I am getting errors when trying to comment on your blogs today. Not sure what’s going on with my computer, but know I’m sending you out silent love. SILENT LOVE. *cue porn music*

I have a friend, Ron, who currently lives in Germany. Before I get to the real reason for this post, I want you to know he just signed up for his first marathon later this year. Ron just started running, has never run a race, and signed up for the whole she-bang.

Hard core, Ron. Hard core.

Since his marathon is in Germany, it will pretty much rock the pants off most marathons. So, Ron agreed to do a couple guest posts once he gets into training and of course after the race. Now that I wrote that for everyone to see, Ron is hereby committed to the guest posts. (YW, Ron)

Ok, now for the real reason for this post: Ron found the most amazing dairy product the world has ever known in his local grocery store.

Behold…Paula Pudding.

If there’s any reason to move to Germany – this is it.

Random Can’t Be Contained

Firstly (is firstly a word?), thank you all for your comments yesterday. I definitely have no intent of changing my content but rather was curious how you felt about bloggers that change their content according to what readers want. Personally, I think the blog is no longer “them” once that happens. The motivation changes and the blogger isn’t as real.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t totally change this into a wrestling blog if offered enough money, but I had just thought it was an interesting discussion topic.

I’ll have to say, I loved Melissa’s reason for why she started blogging and I loved that Alyssa had a different opinion than everyone else. Plus, I love both of their blogs so you should go check them out. 🙂

As you may know, random is what I do best. So, here are a few things on my mind today:

1.  I went to my martial arts fitness class last night. Usually if I go to class tired, it takes about 5 or 10 minutes of class and I’m instantly pepped up. That was NOT the case last night. I was so tired through the whole thing but I think it at least worked out the soreness in my hammies from Sunday.

2.  I’m thinking of trying out New Balance sneakers. Does anyone else wear them and like them? I love my Mizunos but I’m cheap and the ones I wear are $130. They already have over 300 running miles on them (and that doesn’t count all the walking miles) and I can tell the cushioning is starting to go because my left knee was hurting around mile 11 of the half marathon on Sunday.

I like these, but wish they had a more fun color:

3.  I love Snyder’s Honey Wheat Twists. Eat these. It’s a party for your mouth and all your teeth are invited.

4.  Why does my bunny hump and lick Dr. Seuss’ Grinch every morning? She’s fixed…and she’s a GIRL.

Not very ladylike, Bunnypants.

5.  Thirteen was back on House this week. I’m more excited about this than I should be because Olivia Wilde is one of my girl-crushes. She left the show for a year, I’m assuming to film Tron Legacy, get divorced, and generally be better looking than everyone on the planet.

Nice to have her back. Hopefully she can kick Amber Tamblyn’s lame-o character to the curb.

6.  I didn’t take a shower this morning. I pulled back the shower curtain and lazy overcame me. I apologize in advance to those around me and particularly my husband who thinks I need one of those every day.

What’s the random thing on your mind today?
