Dinner with Friends

Last night, the hubs and I met up with Michelle and our friend Leslie at BJ’s Brewhouse by Mall at Millennia.

(Stolen from Google)

When we arrived, we were immediately seated by a guy that looked like Steve-O from Jackass. “Steve-O” was convinced he knew Michelle and asked her if he looked familiar to her. Um, yes. You look like Steve-O. When the answer was no, I assured “Steve-O” that he knew Michelle from “the clubs.”

The best part about a sarcastic sense of humor is when people you don’t know have no clue you are joking. I’m pretty sure “Steve-O” left wondering which club he hooked up with Michelle at.

Hubs and I started with the Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps for an appetizer (Michelle had these for her meal.) I forgot my camera too, so these pictures are all stolen from her.

Really good, but not filling.

BJ’s has a menu of items “Under 575 calories” so I ordered the Creole Tilapia from there and it was AMAZ-ing.

The salsa on top had the perfect amount of kick to it and the fish was awesome. Usually I’m a mahi-mahi girl, so I was really surprised.

Whenever I go to a restaurant, I read the dessert menu first. That way I know if I should leave room in mah belly or order something lighter. I saw a pizookie on the menu and decided that it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

I ordered the Pizookie Trio and chose the Cookies and Crème, Peanut Butter, and Red Velvet Cake flavors. Yeah, that’s my spoon waiting in the upper left for Michelle’s slow ass to take the picture so I could dig in.

I’m not sure if you know what a pizookie is, but it’s basically 1 part angel tears combined with 2 parts kitten souls and then topped with ice cream.

Tastes goooood.

We all really liked BJ’s Brewhouse. Ok, I loved it and will definitely go back. They had me at “pizookie.” It was fun meeting up with Michelle and Leslie. Plus, none of us had seen Leslie in a couple years, so it was nice to catch up.

After hubs and I got home, we went to bed early, which happens 1% of the time. Going to bed early means I woke up at 5:00 am and 5:30 am, thought about working out, and then didn’t. You won this time, lazy.

Now it’s time to get some work done and wallow in pizookie guilt.

Do you read the dessert menu first? 🙂

  1. BJs is one of my favorite restaurants and the main reason is because of the pazookie!! Those things are A-mazing. I didn’t realize they had that new menu with the healthier options. I’m going to have to check that out this weekend (fewer calories in my dinner mean I can splurge on pazookies right?!).

That restaurant is not far from where I live. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the review… Regarding the dessert menu… only sometimes. However, change that to “always” when @ the Cheesecake Factory ;>

  3. Awesome and perfect description of the pizookie! 🙂 I also usually get the cheeseburger pizza aka a fat boy’s dream. I didn’t realize they had a healthier side of the menu though. I guess wifey and I will have to go back soon!

    • Their pizzas looked incredible too! I’m such a sucker for pictures on a menu and they had a pic of the mediterrian pizza that looked to be the size of my head and I wanted it so bad.

  4. I have a separate dessert stomach, so regardless of whether or not I am “full,” I have room for dessert. Always. It may not be dietricious, but I do it anyway!

  5. Yum, I love BJ’s! Especially their pizookies!

  6. I am not a huge dessert person I usually only like ice cream so I would rather fill up on dinner.

  7. Maybe he knows Michelle from the blogs? You never know!

We have a BJ’s, but I have yet to go. Guess I’ll have to give it a try!

Wowza. BJs has stepped up their pizookie! The last time I went they had all of four flavors and sometimes, but not always, the kitchen would do a combo, but they all ended up in the same pan. That dessert is almost too pretty to eat until you realize it’s made with angel tears and spoon up!

  9. o i LOVE kitten souls! so much.

  10. “it’s basically 1 part angel tears combined with 2 parts kitten souls and then topped with ice cream.” Best description of a dessert EVER! You win.

  11. Now I’m dying to try a pizookie. You are too cruel. The description had my mouth watering. No joke!

  12. the only thing i could concentrate on the whole time i was reading this was the fact that the restaurant is called “BJ’s.” I AM SO MATURE

  13. Seriously, it’s all I can do to keep myself from screaming “I LOVE BJ’S” right now.

  14. I LOVE BJ’s!!! And Pizookies! YUM!! The nearest BJ’s is like like 6 hours away so I’m pretty screwed. : (

  15. Now all I want in life is a pazookie. Thanks.

Sometimes I look up the nutrition info on restuartants and I am shocked at the calories. The same meal at home would not be so many. I have no idea how they cook things. I only look at dessert menus first if the restaurant is known for dessert (cheesecake factory!!!) and I order a smaller entre

  17. i like your strategy of looking at the dessert menu first. pure genius. i have never thought to do that!

  18. I have never heard of pizookie, but I think I’m going to have to go try it at our local BJ’s immediately! That sounds awesome although I’m still not sure exactly what it is.

    • It’s a “pizza cookie.” So, it’s basically a really warm cookie that is slightly cooked – gooey on the inside and slighty crisp on the outside with ice cream on top. And yes, you need to get one STAT. They have made my top 5 all time dessert list. 🙂
