Yesterday was a good day. 🙂
After the Hubs got home from work, we went to dinner at BJs Brewhouse (Birthday Girl’s choice).
We got almost exactly the same thing as last time because it was so amazing and we didn’t want to screw up a good thing. I forgot my camera, so please excuse the reuse.
We had Chicken Lettuce Wraps as an appetizer:
Creole Tilapia for the main course.
And the Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Pizookie for dessert.
(That’s a pizza cookie by the way, and if you haven’t had one before, run don’t walk to BJ’s and get one.)
I was a little worried about the walnut part of the dessert since I hate them, but I couldn’t taste them at all. It was DELICIOUS. Like, TOO delicious. We ate half the dessert and then walked out. 😦
After dinner, we went to see X-Men: First Class.
It was really good and I loved how it tied into the other X-Men movies. I could nerd out on the different actors in the movie, like Jennifer Lawrence as Mystic and how I think I’m going to love her in The Hunger Games now. Or how one of the actors was the same chick from Bridesmaids and Insidious…but I won’t.
Ok, I will.
The only thing that annoyed me is how much James McAvoy did this:
We get it. You’re using your powers and the ole finger-to-the-temple signifies that. But really, did you have to do it ALL the time?
Speaking of, I love me some James McAvoy. Is it the accent? Is it the blue eyes? Is it the fact that if I saw him at a bar, I’m pretty sure I could hit that? I don’t know.
Now, I’m back to work. It was so nice having a day off randomly in the middle of the week. Now just two more work days till the Katy Perry concert on Thursday. 🙂
Who do you love that’s not an obvious heart throb? (Besides James McAvoy, I love Topher Grace. I’m sure Michelle will remind me of the others I love in the comments. Hee.)
What’s your favorite comic book movie? (X-Men 2 hands down. Hulk is second – the first one with Eric Bana, not the Ed Norton one. Dark Knight is probably 3rd for me. Don’t judge my placement of Dark Knight. This is my blog! 🙂 )
I heard January Jones was pretty wooden in the movie. What did you think of her?
Liev Schreiber. Now and forever. He just melts my butter.
http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20182334_20420887,00.html
She didn’t do anything for me. But then again, I don’t watch Mad Men either so I have nothing to compare her to except a bad episode she hosted on SNL.
January Jones grew up in Sioux Falls, SD…guess she was the same year as me but went to a different high school. I used to think she was cool, her being from here and all…but she slammed SD in an interview once. I lost all respect for her. She is full of herself…and apparantly a lot of people thinks she sucks at acting. We are going to the movie this weekend….interested in seeing the movie..but not her in it.
All hale the mighty pizookie. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Why did you do that? WHY DID YOU WALK AWAY?
Oh my gosh…there is just nothing better than a pizookie! I’m dragging my boyfriend there this weekend. It’s official, I need one.
OMG, I love me some James McAvoy. Oh yeah, Michael Fassbender isn’t too shabby either.
I saw that tweet last night, and I was confused. Dessert stomach, what???
James just doesn’t do it for me. I kind of hated him in the movie “Wanted.” My unobvious heart throb is Michael Vartan. You know, from Alias? I SO wanted to be Jennifer Garner back in the day, but not now because I think Ben Affleck is kind of a douche bag. Anyway.
I loved all the other X-Men movies, and I really want to see this one, too! The Dark Knight is up there for sure.
Superman Returns is the top. 3 Reasons….1) It’s fricken Superman! 2) The sonic boom he created coming back to Earth was awesome and 3) bullet to the eye effect = motts! (motts = awesomesauce per Mr. Levi). Iron Man is the next one up there. I never really was into the comic as a kid but RDJ changed that with how awesome he played the character! The effects were actually better than Superman in that it looked more real than computer animation.
Looking forward to the Man of Steel. It should be easy to bring the wifey to that as she thinks the guy who is going to play Superman (Henry Cavill) is hot.
I love RDJ. He’s awesome in everything. I didn’t like the first Iron Man, but I did like the second one. I’m probably one of the few. Not liking Iron Man is the reason I won’t see Thor – both got great reviews, so I’m afraid I won’t like it.
Oh Paula. I seriously fear who/what the title of this post will bring to your blog via searches.
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I missed it on FB, but don’t think I didn’t care.
PS Loved that your playlist had “Gasoline” on it. I love that song and Lucy has memerized about half of it.
Should just make for another interesting search term post! And YES, Gasoline is my favorite song on her new album. Lucy has good taste!
Can’t stand January Jones. Had to get that mini-vent out there. 🙂
So jealous that you’re going to hear Katy Perry this weekend! Hope you are still milking the “it’s my birthday” thing for at least a few more days.
*Needs to go to BJ’s and try a pizookie*
The MEB and I went to see X-Men last night as well!! We went to the mall that has the Tuesday $5 movie special. Is that where you and the fabman went? We went to the 8 p.m. showing… and it was PACKED!!!
Nope, we went to the 9pm at Waterford Lakes. We have free tickets that our personal trainer gave to us. 🙂 The theatre was about half full. Score!
My superhero obsession goes to Batman! Esp- Dark Knight! Love love love! I want to see this Xmen though. I love learning the” stories” behind series.
Happy belated bday!
Topher Grace! Yes! He’s adorable.
I also dig Seth Rogen (maybe it’s the Jew’fro?) and the guy who was the main character in the movie Snow Day. No idea who he is or if he’s been in anything since. That may have been the peak of his career
I find Joseph-Gordon Levitt mildly crushable. He kind of has a large forehead, but I found something intriguing about him in Inception. Or maybe I was just dreaming that? (Ha. Ok, sorry for the lame joke).
p.s. love the title for this blog!
Oh, I love him too! He was adorable in 500 Days of Summer. 🙂
Omg the finger to the head move was driving me crazy too! Does it not work if his fingers aren’t touch his head?
Mmm pizookie. Want.
Hehehehehehehe 🙂 I love BJ’s too!!!
Haha I seriously have the mind and humour of a 12 year old, because I wasn’t thinking the restaurant chain when I saw your post title!!
Okay, laughing at Leigh’s comment because even though we don’t have that restaurant here I was assuming you were talking about one. My mind didn’t even go THERE, lolol!
Love James McAvoy in Atonement. Love. The library scene… oh my.
I so cannot think of the names of any non-heart throb crushes. I’m just sure I have some, though.
I’d have to go with Batman for comic book movie. Although I enjoyed Thor the other day–wasn’t that a comic? I took my son expecting to be bored to death, instead I got me an eyeful of some great abs and pecs.
Come to me piezookie! 🙂 I don’t blame you for having to walk away, I wouldn’t have been able to sit there and not eat the whole thing! 😛
I love the guy who plays Dexter on ‘Dexter’. He’s hot but also a murderer so maybe not so obviously hunky! 😛
I loved the comic book movie that Robert Downie Jr. was in. As I can’t remember the name, I think you can guess why I like that movie! 😛
Happy Birthday! Thanks for the X-men review. My boyfriend is trying to get me to see it with him, maybe I will 🙂 He made me see “Kick-@$$” with him, and I actually liked it even though I usually hate action movies.
Oh! I didn’t want to see Kick Ass either, but I did and totally loved it. X-Men doesn’t actually have a lot of action in it. This one is more of a drama.
BJ’s sounds delicious!! 🙂
I think Terrance Howards pretty good looking!
We saw X-Men first class last weekend. I have to saw Wolverine is still my favorite of the series. I was confused at the end of XFC because Xavier gets shot (and I assume parallyzed) but at the end of Wolverine, Xavier was older and bald and he walked off of the helicopter. Not sure if there is another story line there or just a movie flub. I had also read that XFC was initially supposed to be another X-Men begginings movie (like Wolverine) about Magneto – which seems pretty apparant in the story line – but they decided to scrap the plan – mostly. Okay, now that I showed you and of your blog readers how much of a movie dork I am I guess I should answer your non-heartthrob question. I think Joseph-Gordon Levitt is absolutely adorable. But I have to admit that I loved Sean Penn as Spicoli – so cute. But I have a thing for stupid burn out surfers.
Oh – and I totally choked on my lunch when I read the title to your blog today. I have a dirty mind (not that I have to tell you that) and was proud to see another girl that loves BJ’s as much as me. Then I got all disappointed when I read it was about food. lol! Although….. we will be trying BJ’s restaurant the next time we are out that way. And maybe a BJ later as well, who knows.
I can’t wait to see X-men!
